8/365 - Barbaro

Too old to date a teenager. You were a predator. Lies, deception, jealousy, and insecurity. Others saw you for who you really were. Innocence lost. How many other were victims? A mother now, I know your type.

7/365 - Mrs. Graham

You said you bought a new black dress once and before you ever had a chance to wear it your very best friend died unexpectedly. You returned the dress and wore something else to her funeral. Haunting.

6/365 - Tony M.

You said, when someone upsets tell them “When you do this… It makes me feel…” and never say things like “You’re such a…”. After years of therapy you give advice for free. I use this advice today.

5/365 - Mrs. VanAntwerp

A victim of domestic violence. Once a concert pianist, you were tough when you needed to be. You didn’t have to take an interest, but you did. You made sure I knew I could count on you.

4/365 - Frank C.

I didn’t realize how much you paid attention. You remembered what I wore from head to toe. You even knew where I lived though I’d never told you. I wish I knew then what I know now.

3/365 - Sebastian

Years after high school, you told me that the simple act of offering you a ride to school each time I saw you walking was something you’d never forgotten. Proof that random acts of kindness do matter.

2/365 - Mr. Green

Tall, dark, handsome. You were always a sharp dressed man. My elementary school music teacher, you instilled a love of music in me and taught me self-expression. I have often wondered what you did after you retired.

1/365 - Sandra

You were my role model for southern hospitality and the wife I wanted to be when I grew up. I was completely devastated to learn that one day you took the kids, the furniture and left abruptly.

About My 365

I found the 365 project while I was reading one of my favorite blogs and decided this is a project I would like to participate in. At the time I wasn't really sure when I wanted to start but now I think that Thanksgiving would be an appropriate day to begin.

There are so many people who come into our lives and touch it in some way. Some people make us smile, bring us joy; while others seem to bring nothing but heartache and misery. Yet, though completely opposite in the way they make us feel, each teaches us something and leaves their mark.

I truly believe that everyone we meet comes into our life at just the right time, for just the right reason and teach us exactly what we need to know. Sometimes we pick up on this life lesson and sometimes we have to be taught several times over before we catch on.

This is my journey to remembering 365 people, in no particular order, who have made an impression on my life. Not just anyone though, these 365 are all people that I've known. Some memories will be good and others may not, but in the end, these people and the lessons I've learned have shaped who I am today.

Enjoy.

The Project

The 365 Project was started by one guy who wanted to commemorate his turning 40 in a special way. Now, people all over the world are making a list of 365 people they've met during the course of their lives and writing briefly about them; people who've left an impression and whose names they remember. They're doing this once a day - for a year.
